I have been working in the field of mental health since 2009, graduating in 2010 with my Masters's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Valparaiso University. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Indiana, helping people focus on their mental health to improve their quality of life has changed my life.
Over the last 12 years, I have had the privilege of watching society open up, accept and normalize mental health care. I have worked with a wide variety of populations since 2010. This includes foster children and families involved with DCFS; individuals with severe mental illness; and children and adults dealing with everyday stressors.
In 2021, my husband and I were talking about our careers. He has worked in the physical therapy field for 11 years when we realized how little the mental health field attempts to connect aspects of mental health symptoms to the body/physical symptoms/systems and the spirit of the human experience. From there, the idea of @peace was born.
Having worked in a hospital setting with the severely mentally ill, I realized that many factors, physical medical and spiritual, could contribute to mental health symptoms. When working together we will engage in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and psycho-education, while also exploring how your physical, medical and spiritual health contribute to your mental well-being. We want the body to perform at optimal levels to give your brain the best fighting chance against mental limitations.
In addition, I observed a need in our area for grief care. In 2021 I became a Certified Advanced Grief Specialist to help individuals move through their grief.
Outside of this work, I am a mother of 3 and wife. My experiences as a child and teenager lead me on a path of service to others in mental health. I look forward to hearing from you, teaching you, and working together to take care of your own mental health.
